Arthur John Godwin  married Sisera Blanche Barratt 9 april 1917  St Pauls church stafford.

This is my link to the Godwin family. Sisera Blanche Barratt was my grandmother’s sister.

 

The Barratt family come from Bulwick and Blatherwick in Northamptonshire. They are recorded in this area for at least 800 years. (more information available on request)

My great grandfather William Henry Barratt was christened Bulwick  25 april 1861, one of eight children of Christopher Barratt (bap 1820 Bulwick) and Elizabeth (nee Freeman bap weldon 1831)

Christopher was a farm labourer, he was buried Bulwick 22 aug 1897

Elizabeth buried Bulwick 22 feb 1875

 

William left Northamptonshire and went  to Bury St Edmunds, where he joined the 32nd brigade

29th november 1880 (he was in Jersey with the regiment at the time of the census in 1881),he transferred to the 12th foot suffolk  2nd battalion 23 march 1881, then to the 1st battalion, maybe because he wished to travel to India. On the 7th  dec 1881 he sailed on the Malabar for the East Indies. He was there for 5 years and 63 days, spending time in Fyzabad, Roorkee, Rawal Pindi, Kuldana, and Camp Thobba, Promoted to Corporal 27 Jan 1885. He  returned to England on the Serapis 15 jan 1887

He remained in the army on his return, but became a reserve after his marriage and was discharged 25 nov 1896.

 

William Henry Barratt married Ada Lydia Jervis 13 june 1890 Cannock register Office (Ada Lydia born 1865 Ranton, the ninth of ten children to William Jervis and Elizabeth Myatt.)

They began married life in Moss Lane, Madeley Staffs. William Henry is listed as a labourer in 1891

In 1901 he is a rural postman living Friars Road Stafford. He died 18 june 1929. Together they had three daughters.

Annis Agatha Abigail married 22 feb 1913 to Francesco Giuseppe Regis,(born 11 sept 1888 turin) Stafford register office.( my grandparents) they had three children. (more information available on  request).

 

Sisera Blanche married Arthur John Godwin 9 april 1917

Their children were Lilian May Godwin born 24 november 1918 (nothing known about her yet)

                                Blanche Godwin born 10 april 1920 ( married Laurence Dawkes).

Sisera Blanche died 1 may 1920

Arthur John Godwin died 22 oct 1956

 

Olive Grace Barratt married Joseph Van de Ghoor 23 june 1917 (born Belgium) stafford register Office

Their child was William Franz Harry born 26 Oct 1917 (married with two children)
